Datejust 41 - Starts & Stops

Model 116300 - bought new 03/2009 from AD. Never serviced. Recently, the watch stops. I wear it every day, only sits at night. I tried winding and while it might start to run for a day or so, it then will randomly stop then start again. Any thoughts on why? Looking for help before I take in for a lengthly service. Thanks

Obviously, it needs a full service.

Yes, definitely, you may have a mainspring problem or an issue with the automatic.
A service will make it new again.

Cheers,

Just wearing a watch don't wind the watch it's wrist activity that winds the watch. Before wearing give it a full manual wind 40 full crown turns clockwise only, even if worn will do no harm whatsoever to give a manual wind once a week or so.

How many times do you wind the watch? Try Padi's recommendation on winding and let us know what happens. You mentioned that it can run for a day or so? I am thinking that you simply may not be fully powering it up. IIRC, 3136 movement like yours only has a 48 hour power reserve, so please keep that in mind.

It’s 15 years old, service intervals are suggested to be 10 years, go and get the RSC to service it.

Thanks for all your help. End result was that it needed service. Winding didn’t help.
