Why is that just 2 version of steel daytona exist?

why didnt rolex produce other colour combinations of bezel/dial on stainless steel daytona, just like the submariner and gmt master ii, why? will it happen in the future?

Seems as though Rolex has decided the GMT line is for colorful whimsy

1. Because that’s what they wanted to do.
2. Yes, Rolex will make colored Daytonas in the future and is actually scheduled to commence that effort 1Q 2025.

HNY everyone!

Rolex does what they want to do and we just have to live with it! SS Daytona dial options have been like this for many years.

They did in the past (the beach series). My understanding is that it was not very popular.

If Rolex made more dial options with the stainless steel Daytona models, more arguments would break out among us as far as which dial was superior. As it is now, the disagreements are minimized as we can only debate between white and black.

The right answer is and always has been "both".

Those were white gold, not stainless steel. You are correct that they were slow sellers when new, they are now quite expensive.

The steel Daytona's are Rolex's unwritten "exclusive" offerings, so they wouldn't want to dilute their cash cow so to say.

If they released a slew of dial color and bracelet combinations the elusive unicorn would not be as sought after anymore. The PM line of the Daytona is where they get creative, but you have to pony up the cash for the experience.

Yes, they should totally pull a GS out Omega and make a million variations and limited editions and commemorative versions, that’ll show them.

Sacrilege…Like putting a mustache on the Mona Lisa.
The SS Daytona doesn’t “need” to do anything else. It is way too important and traditional for Rolex to ever deviate from the legend. You would have a better chance of Rolex doing this with a Sub/dive watch but even then that model is way too established in tradition to mess with.

In fact, this is exactly twice what Henry Ford originally offered his customers.

And as long as they don't want to produce enough of these two colors, why add more colors? Should they make less of these versions?

Anyway, the black dial contains all shades :)

One could argue there are less options on the Sub (just black dial, black bezel). Or that the Sub Date has options that differ less (black dial, black vs green bezel). There's no need for them to offer more then 1 or 2 dial options on their sports models in SS. In fact, I think Daytona, Exp II and the Deepsea are the only SS sports Rolexes which allow you to get a dial other than black.
