RSC damaged my watch rehaut

Hi everyone, I thought I’d share something that just happened to me that I think would be of interest to everyone.

Last Tuesday I picked up my 2013 GMT Master 2 from my local AD after taking it in for service in November. Watch looks and works great, however on Sunday I noticed two scratches on the rehaut at the eleven o’clock mark. I’ve called the AD again yesterday and I’m taking the watch back in tomorrow. I’ll keep you posted on what they’ll say, and what RSC will do to fix it, even if I know that the rehaut is part of the case.

I’m normally not too bothered about scratches/dents but I’m not happy with RSC scratching my watch and returning it back to me as if nothing happened. Also, for some reason, the fact that I didn’t make the scratch bothers me a little more. I wonder if anyone has had similar problems with RSC after servicing their watch? Thanks all

Please post pictures of these scratches.

Yikes! Did you get service papers and a receipt from RSC? Some AD's will service things in house unless you specify you want it to go back to the mothership.

Yeah I’ve got the card and receipt from the RSC. So I guess the watch will go back there tomorrow whether it can be fixed or not, as the AD won’t want to take any responsibility for it.

I would assume that back it goes, a bummer. They will make it right. Great watch.

Yup they made a mistake, possibly one of those newbies from that program they were running to recruit. No big deal bring it back they will make it right.

Wow, what a strange place for scratches, certainly not something you did yourself. I’m curious about what their solution is, can that be polished out, or new case?

Doesn't look like just a scratch, you can almost tell there is an indentation on top of one of them. New case in order that would bug the crap out of me.

Wow, how would that even happen. How did they even think that was acceptable to return to you?

Did the watch have any previous service history and are you the original buyer from AD?

I don’t think they can polish the scratches without wiping out the letters. So either polishing it and re-engraving or a new case

^^This is the real issue RSC should be ashamed of. I would love to see how they explain how it happened and how their “trained experts” didnt see this??? You have one micro hairline when sending a watch in for service and you can bet they document it.

I’ll keep you posted on what they say tomorrow. I bet it’ll just be a bunch of apologies though. Still don’t understand how they scratched it. It looks as if the picked up the watch from the rehaut with a small pair of pliers

That's incredible!! Hopefully they can get it fixed.

I recall talking to a watch service guy some years ago and the subject of the engraved rehaut came up. He was Rolex trained and at the time was working at an AD. I recall him telling me that not all Rolex model's rehauts were part of the case and that some were separate from the case. It will be interesting to see how this plays out.

This is shocking. Normally I open these threads thinking the damage will be microscopic. Not so here. The shame is that if there was no engraved rehaut the remedy would be easy.
