What would happen to a Rolex if you put it in the freezer?

It becomes a FROZALEX............

Just put it in the microwave to defrost

I am not sure what if anything can go wrong in the freezer

when NASA tested watches and the speedmaster won all the tests, The Rolex failed the testing after stopping twice from humidity and once during the high temperature test, when the seconds hand warped, binding against the other hands.

But freezing was ok...

I bet it'd work okay. Climbing to the top of Mt Everest is a heck of a lot colder than any freezer, and that's been done.

Im thinking it would still run, but slower, the oils would get viscous.I wore my GMT for two seasons of -40c, it hasnt skipped a beat.However thats due to thewatch being worn on the wrist and keeping above zero temperature.I know im a nerd.

There was a thread on TRF about this when I first joined!!!
Some guy froze his watch in a glass of water then thawd it out by putting it into a boiling pot of water for 10 mins!!!! It came out still running after the ordeal..

Rolex also issued a advert stating(in the 60's I believe)that a Rolex Oyster could be either boiled or frozen(dont remember which)

with a signed statement from a lawer who witnessed the event....Just Cant seem to find the thread right now!!!!!

I think I may try it with my YG DD first.

Very true. Even the Exp-II has gone on several Antartica Expeditions and kept perfect time through out. Antartica is the coldest place on the planet.

Referring to the boiling advert, a mate of mine has a brother-in-law that is considerably well off, and my mate was telling me a few years ago that his brother-in-law would put his Rolex's in boiling water to clean them...I said he was off his head. When I was in an Omega AD with a seamaster, I was telling them about his cleaning method and they said the same as me, would have thought it would damage the rubber seals on the crown etc.
But to him a Rolex was just like a Timex. Apparently when out with his mates they would throw them in to wine coolers like playing basketball with them!

I've done this before with a Seiko several years ago with no problems so, last night, I left my Sea Dweller in the freezer at -10 deg until this morning. It gained about 2 seconds in 10 hours and is running fine this morning. End of my story.
