3861 on flat-link bracelet
My ideal combo is the 3861 SS with the older flat link bracelet. Can you purchase an Omega OEM flat link or do you need to do the Foerster if you want to have that combo? Not sure how I feel about spending all that money on a watch and using a 3rd party bracelet.

Normally Omega will sell the bracelet directly to you. Omega Boutiques have been known to do this, and you may not need to visit in person. I purchased a new clasp for my Speedmaster bracelet over the phone from an Omega Boutique (I don't have a Boutique near me).
Not sure if you need to go all the way to the UK, but if for some reason you need another resource then contact Swiss Watch Spares: https://www.swisswatchspares.com/ |

The Omega boutiques will order the bracelet and put it on for you. I don't remember the cost of bracelets but they used to be around $700. I think they're around $800 now.

I have been told that Forstner was the original maker of the Speedmaster bracelet so that may mean something as they make several models specifically for the 3861. That being said, the bracelet that comes stock with the 3861 looks like the person who designed it was primarily concerned with avoiding impinging on Rolex's Jubilee/President/Oyster patents resulting in an uninspired bracelet design

You can put the Speedmaster 57 bracelet on the 3861 (here with the OEM endlinks)
Also the Speedmaster 50th anniversary bracelet (on my 3861 as well below): There are aftermarket endlinks links from Forstner and Uncle Seiko, among others, to allow you to use them on various Omega models. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk Pro
