Yellow Gold Le Mans Discontinued
Just picked up my YG Le Mans being held since November and my Rolex host informed me they have been DC’d prior to W&W25. Anyone else hear the same?

I hope it is discontinued so that it can remain a highly aspirational piece for people. |

We're months away from W&W so no one knows, including ADs (most likely).
People have been speculating the YG Le Mans will be a one year run because the WG Le Mans was a one year run. They could be right, who knows... I also heard the Pepsi is being discontinued...for about 3 years running now.... |

No mine was new not on display held in safe. I was traveling for work and holiday.
They could have easily sold to next guy in line. AD told me it came in, I said I was away for over a month and she held it. They don't get many of these and they could have easily said no we can't wait. |

So if instead you’re out of town for a while and they hold it for you during that time it’s something they don’t have to do. |

Oh, I thought you meant a strategy to deter flippers, which I've read about on here, where the AD will hold the card for a month or I've even seen a year.

It allows customers to pick it up when convenient. My AD has customers who do not live locally all year round, my wife and I included. When I got my TT Sky Dweller they were holding a blue one for a customer who would not be back in the UK for 3 months. This is the mark of a good AD, a business who looks after its customers, as opposed to telling someone to get there in 24 hours or lose it.

And to answer the couple questions as to why it was held so long I was busy traveling over the holidays so just now had the time to go pick it up.

I think it's fair to ask that but I believe it's been establshed to be discontinued (WG) at this point. Ben Clymer himself said a Rolex executive told him it was disco'd at last year's W&W. That's a credible enough source for me and couple that with the fact we haven't seen any new incoming claims of a WG version while we do see YG incomings.

It would be curious to see this. The yellow gold makes sense considering the legacy of the Paul Newman/JPS 626x’s.
I’ve always been a bigger fan of RG (love my RG GMT) but YG on this piece is quite stunning. Would be wild to see RG Daytona with a proper panda dial regardless though. |

Many times, a new watch comes in and the AD needs to put it in the Exhibition case until another similar watch can replace it. They are required to have a representative sampling of the line on the display at any given time, so this full gold model may have been needed until another all-gold model came in. I have asked ADs if I could buy an exhibition watch at some point and have been told the watch is already committed to a customer when it can be rotated out.
