Two More ADs to be trimmed in Florida for 2025?

Was speaking with someone who has been a FL AD for the past 40 yrs & he says look for atleast two more ADs to be trimmed in Florida. Just too many doors.

Omega, Panerai, etc have been busy eliminating dealers in Florida too as they open Company stores.

And yet, you still can’t get a watch from any of them…..

Per the Rolex website, there are 25 ADs in the State of Florida. That does seem like a lot with thirteen of them located in the Miami area.

Correct me if I'm wrong, but it appears that most of these AD's that get cut didn't see it coming. Unless you're a superstore, I'd be sweating going to the mailbox every day..

Why is tampa the only one that makes you wonder? Your statement made me curious as to how many AD's are in an area per population... and Tampa Bay has over 3 Million people there. Most of the areas in Florida have plenty of money to spend also.

Jacksonville has 2 AD's, but only a little over 1 million in population in the Duval/jax area.

The West Palm Beach area has 2 AD's, and while there's a lot of money there, the population is probably less than JAX and Tampa.

The greater Miami area has 7 AD's!!! Seems like there's some shops that may be getting the AX there.

I guess we'll see! Who knows who Rolex will chop off next...

Because I live in Tampa, and not going to waste time seeing how many other markets have. One AD is a large volume AD and the other one in Tampa is just awful and known for bait and switching consumers.

Unfortunately this is the future and the way Rolex wants it now and the other major brands are following. Just the margins made on a Rolex at Bucherer are probably 60-70%.
Since Rolex is now in retail too.

Cheers,

Hopefully this means that with all of the reduction of AD's the remaining AD's will get allocated more watches.

In the US The Crown will use the big $ Dealers to open mega boutiques with super expensive build outs. This will go on for about 5 years or so while they close all the Mom and Pop shops in smaller markets. While this is going on they will be investing Big $ into Bucherer to be poised to swoop in those big metropolitan markets and axe out the dealers who just spent a fortune for a boutique. This is exactly what AP has done just on a smaller scale. I can't speak for other countries as some have laws prohibiting foreign companies from opening stand alone brick and mortar stores without a local business partner, ie AD. If I'm in any market right now in the US and there is a Bucherer nearby I'm sweating.

But Underwood’s is AD not just for Jax but all the way to Tally, up to Savannah and now down to Daytona and there is more than enough money in Ponte Vedra where you can’t get a watch from them anyway….

Most of the people I talk to that are trying to get a watch from an AD and have spent money say the same thing

I'd bet there are plenty of people that have spent a ton of money at Mayors and haven't gotten a thing. I've seen some of the big stores and talked to SA's in them, the problem is, the big stores get hundreds of walk-in's a day, with dozen's signing up for watches. The small ones out of the malls get much less traffic and have a smaller list, but I do believe they get far less watches to sell.

It's a terrible game no matter how you look at it to me, IDK...

Well, Florida is 65,000 square miles in size and bigger than most European countries. It also has the 4th largest GDP in the USA, too. Only behind CA, TX, and NY.

Plus, Miami is also considered the 3rd richest city in the country and has 35,000+ millionaires. So it’s a big state and there is a lot of money in Florida.

If it does happen, you can be sure it won't be Mayors.

Florida is coming together quite neatly for Rolex in terms of AD consolidation.

There are still some independent AD either in bad locations or with inadequate storefronts that shall be culled. I think it’s closer to 5 that will get the boot at some point.

So do think Underwood in Ponte Vedra will go?

The Mayors at the Galleria Mall in Fort Lauderdale, had their Rolex display and items removed. According to their Rep, they cannot sell Rolex at that store anymore. The Boca Raton Store still has as does their Miami location.

Underwood’s in PVB is owned by the Bromberg family, who are also the ADs in Birmingham, Alabama.
Big family ADs have less to worry about short-term; I’d say long term, adios.

I was referring to the Mayor's in International Plaza in Tampa. They just did a huge relocation / renovation. It's not going anywhere in terms of AD status.

I’m waiting for Mayors at Town Center to complete the renovation and get the Rolex line back. If/When that happens, I bet Underwood’s will be sweating. Neither store has updated their Rolex area, at least since the last time I was in there.

That whole mall is just an oddball tbh. I wouldn’t be surprised if Mayors gave up that location entirely, even after they remodeled it a few years back

I would bet JR Dunn is next to go in that metro. Terrible location and look

I would think so. I don’t believe Rolex will see an AD location in a strip plaza being acceptable, especially when the WOS boutique comes online. One door in JAX is what is needed.
