Full gold Daytona demand/price

Anecdotally, has the demand for gold Daytonas decreased? Watchcharts and c24 are still showing some premium however the data is based on listed prices and not actual sales transactions. Input would be appreciated. Thanks!

with the recent price hike this year I think the demand will decrease that's just my opinion, my 126519 has gone from 28,400 gbp roughly, to 33,500 gbp roughly, that's bonkers, June 31st was first price ...
But I don't know, those in the market for gold Daytona are they the type of people that have the money anyhoo ? not sure, but I can tell you my AD had WG and RG Daytona in the case for sale, there and then ...

IMHO you can take off about 15-20% off of C-24 prices to get you closer to what they really sell for

Is that because of tax and c24 fees and then maybe a small premium? Or do you think your number is close excluding the tax they charge?

It’s sort of an all in number. If you compare pricing to say Moda … C24 is aspirational at best

I have countered on many watches on that platform and the dealers may move on the prices, but it is not much. They are actually in the business of selling and moving product. There is no advantage to putting prices out there at prices which will never sell the watches. That doesn't pay the rent or out food on the table.

That may be true but just look at what a watch is listed for on c24 vs a platform like Moda … even some of the trusted sellers here are significantly lower.

Maybe it depends on the reference but for sure there’s a significant difference

I see. To me it was the tax that c24 collects that always breaks the deal for me. I don’t have to pay tax on the used watches I buy from other dealers and that’s a huge benefit to me.
Of course moda is different but I don’t think that’s fair. That’s like saying carmax is gouging bc you can get them off manheim for way less

Depending on the model, most full gold Daytona are getting sold at or below their previous retail price.
Oysterflex models are selling slightly above retail with the exception of one or two specific dials selling much higher.

After the retail price increase, dealers all increased their prices but I don’t see any pieces being sold at the new asking.

Demand is already low before the price increment. Hence I’m pretty sure the new prices won’t move

It’s a Facebook group. As with anything you need to do your due diligence when dealing there

Thanks. I don't do Facebook so maybe that's why I've never heard of it.

Worth mentioning that the different MODA groups(there are several with different price ranges)started and mostly consist of dealers trading amongst themselves. One thing also unique there is most deals are pay first so the old adage of “buy the seller” is even more important.
I have bought a couple of Seiko mods that a guy sells on the <$10K group. I tried selling a unique handmade bronze piece I have. Lots of interest but no offers because folks didn’t think it would be easy to resell.

I've had a lot of success buying off Moda. Most of the time you're dealing with an actual dealer. Some of them have store fronts in NYC and the like, but not all. Do your research first. It's a big risk though, wiring the money, then being at the mercy of UPS or FedEx not losing your package. I would imagine enough transactions you're going to run into issues, but overall the money saved will even it out if you buy a lot.

I get it, but I would hope (actually verify) they are fully insuring the watch through a 3rd party like Parcel Pro. I bet the vast majority do.
