Are one of these lugs over-polished?

Here is a 16700 I have a deposit on. It looks good but it looks like one of the lugs is soft?

Those are not the best angles to just the lugs, IMO.

I am seeing some typical signs of polishing on a buffing wheel, e.g. loss of original brushed finish, soft edges on chamfer, some cratering of the lug holes. Obviously not the worst I've seen, but enough to notice.

I could get over it. If it’s the right price, get it.

About deleted all-in delivered. Original box, papers, etc. I figure the Jubilee makes it a good deal. Sorry I took out the price as it may be tacky in the forum.

The repair on that bottom right lug would drive me nuts. It looks like someone just polished off a ding.

That's what I'm talking about. I don't think it would bother me as a watch I would wear, which it would be.

If I had Rolex put the edge back on would that be a mistake? Then the lug thins out.

The case needs a good, professional refinishing. Very poorly "polished/refinished"

Sometimes it is better in the long run to find a quality watch that doesn't a need attention or replacement parts - like a correct bezel insert.

Over polished is over used.

This watch has been refinished in the past and oversized chamfers were ground long the edge, perhaps to clear dings or just for the look.

More recently the watch has been machine polished, likely to make it look good for sale.

None of it is horrible. If you want it "sharper", it could be properly refinished by a pro, but the larger chamfers are there to stay without adding filler.

To answer your question, OP. Yes. All 4 lugs are poorly polished as Dan has pointed out.

I wouldn’t buy it regardless of the price, this is a very common model and it would be relatively easy to find an excellent example. If you buy an excellent example you will get a lot more joy out of wearing it.

I know this for certain as some years ago I brought a couple of watches with issues I thought I could see past. They drove me up the wall every time I wore them and ruined the experience. It made so much more fussy and patient when buying.

Great model but there is no need to compromise.

I think I was trying to salve a wound. I bought a NOS 16700 recently, and FedEx seems to have lost it. First time it's ever happened to me, and of course, it didn't happen with something easy to replace.
