Need Help Identifying this Rolex.

Hello Community,

I am brand new to owning a Rolex and I just inherited one. I called a local Rolex dealer and he gave me some information but I have questions still. He had told me that he thinks that its a "Two tone, DateJust, model #16013". The photos its hard to see but it has 455 and J on the backside of the watch. I want to hear opinions on what this watch is. Also is it considered vintage if its between 70's and 80's as that's the production years for the model #16013. So I am curious as to what this watch is? estimated Value? also if its considered vintage at that age?

Here are pics of the watch:

Yes, vintage. Your dealer appears to be correct, and it's likely from the late 70s or early 80s as far as I can tell at first glance. If you remove the bracelet, there will be a serial number and a reference number between the lugs at bottom and top to confirm that information. The 455 is just the number of the endlinks.

Unfortunately the photos are not good enough to provide solid feedback. Please try to focus on the watch itself instead of the background. And use the crop tool, we don't need so much hand and tablecloth in the photos.

Value probably in the $3k USD range in the current market. Black dials are desirable, but two-tone less so.

Thanks,

Appreciate the feedback you could provide! I didn't mean to take the photos with so much background but my phone wouldn't focus with it that close it just blurs. When I got closer to the watch it was just a bad picture. The background was unavoidable. appreciate the info! Thank you

If you drop by Schwanke-Kasten all your answers will be answered - as well as if it needs a routine service.

Not sure what else you are looking for given those photos. The bracelet looks pretty stretched out. Does that help?

Second opinion for what?

Mid-70's Datejust in desperate need of some attention to the bracelet and likely the movement.

Impossible to tell if it is authentic, but any decent watchmaker could sort that out for you.

Not particularly valuable or collectible except that it is an inheritance. After some investment it would last you for decades of good use.

Hello,

Thank you for your opinion:) It's authentic. I took the advice of the feed and they gave me a paper saying its how much it would cost to replace it and it must have had some value:) appreciate the info

Do you mean the AD I provided gave you an appraisal?

If so, that should give you confidence.

So with the solid pictures enclosed you cant tell if its authentic? an authorized dealer did with those pictures and i took a ride to schwanke-kasten of Brookfield and the man I spoke to had told me with emphasis that he was right lol. so I guess we clearly see professional vs. novice...I'm happy I'm Green:)

“Solid” pictures? Not sure that that means, but there’s nothing in those pictures that confirm its authenticity.
But moreover, why did you bother asking this forum if your expert authorized dealer says it’s authentic?
