New Camera New Watch

Hello everyone....well I got my Explorer II four weeks ago when I started my last "trip" at work, I am home now and I have bought a new camera as well....not just for watch photography, mostly for taking pictures of the kids....family stuff.....but then my watches are part of this family I suppose....so here are some pictures....there are some macros, some collection photo's....I even managed to catch the LEC on my GMTIIc!!!!.....I was amazed....my eyes are getting too old to see the LEC's without help!!!....there's also a shot with my Explorer II on a jubilee borrowed from one of my DJ's.....sad to say it's using after market end links, only 'til I manage to get my hands on some Rolex end links, sorry I couldn't wait to see the "look".......I really like it.......great to "mix and match"......thanks to Dan for the encouragement!!!!

Thanks Eric......I have only had the camera 24 hours.....lots to learn, but the macro facility is brilliant.....the modern cameras do so much for you....really the credit goes to the camera not the operator in this case!!!

true to a certain point Bill. Having a great eye and attention to detail is very also important in photography.
Can you let us know which make and model your new cam is? Cheers.

Eric, after years of owning pretty high end compact digital cameras we decided to go for a digital SLR, I used to do lots of SLR photography with 35mm film so I thought that was the obvious next step....however when we got to our local (brilliant) photography shop the guy took on board everything I talked about regarding photography I had done in the distant past....then he basically he said "you have it all wrong for nowadays....have you thought about a bridge camera?".....a what?....I said...then he proceeded to educate me.....we walked out with a Casio EX-FH20.......looks like a digital SLR but so simple to use....the macro is just so simple to use....honestlt....down to 1cm distance from the subject......really, in 24 hours.......I did ok.....hopefully the results will get better.....

Indeed!

Immediate gratification as well.

I keep commenting on other threads about the proportion of the bracelet on the GMTIIc to the watch case. Do you feel it looks / feels right?

I am looking at getting an old GMT II...like the new ones, but keep vacillating.

Any thoughts appreciated.

Bill...looking at my GMTIIc on my wrist right now.....I do understand what people say........however.....everyone is entitled to their own opinion, that's what makes us human.....isn't it great that no two people are exactly the same and like/hate the same things?......I love it...I love the proportions, I love the PCL's......I also love the proportion of the Explorer II as well and I love the BCL's as well.....I also love Jubilee bracelets....I have a small but diverse collection, I think most will agree....I must be one of the few folk on here with a "slack handful" of Rolex watches who doesn't have a Sub of some description....sure it will come...maybe I am scared of the comittment!!!!... I am not going to say I love all Rolex watches, because I don't...I love what they all stand for, the enginerring....but the aesthetics....that's a whole different story......I love the new GMT....I also love the old.....I might get flamed for it but I looked at the new DJII, the new DDII and the new WG Blue Sub in Heathrow on my way home on Thursday....I didn't like any of them aesthetically....I love the engineering side....but they didn't "blow my frock up" at all.....36mm is big enough for a DJ or a DD.....40mm is right for a Professional.....sorry.....each to their own.....

Thanks for sharing your thoughts. More grist for (my) mill.

I love the big #'s / ceramic bezel insert on that new GMTII C. Perhaps I just need to get used to it. LOVE the big Lumes.

Love your collection BTW.

Hmmm...your wife on TRF? That's like having your wife as your Facebook friend. Could get interesting...but since she sounds supportive of your "habit" maybe that's ok
