thats debatable !
There'sa thread somewhere's that looks into this very question, and short of someone sawing one in two, there is NO CONCLUSIVE evidence that anyone has any direct knowledge that these links are indeed "solid". So just b/c someone at an AD says it is so, doesnt mean it is so ! It would be an impracticality from a manufacture standpoint to have these constructed from solid bar stock as there are three rods that pass thru the link assy and it would be wasteful to drill out milligrams of 18k bar stock as part of the process. I suspect that these are indeed "pressed" in sides as well as the rods which, we already know, are press fit into the assy. I culd be talkin out meass too, thats happened b4 ! |

All modern day TT, YG, RG or WG Rolex models are now solid 18 K gold - not pressed, not hollow, no bulls**t!! And you can take that to any damn bank in the world....end of story!! JJ

I can back that up as well, a jeweler friend of mine has people bringing him watches all the time. A simple test using an abrasive stone and different acids will conclusively determine the percentage of pure gold and wether it is solid. He does this on a weekly basis when people bring him Rolexes and other watches. Every piece of gold on a rolex.....the crown, bezel......center links etc....is 100% solid 18k gold. Now the center links are no longer hollow on all models and therefore those are also solid gold, nothing wrapped, plated or filled.
