Buying Two...Discount?
If you were buying two Rolex watches (Explorer II and a 31mm SS Datejust) What type of discount (Canada 13% sales tax) would you expect?

For 2 watches I would ask for an extra 5% off.
I know an AD in Ontario that has a white faced Explorer II at 25+% off. PM me if you want more info. |

Take a trip to Alberta, pay 5% tax, and get 20% off
At the least I'd ask for no tax! |

Hard to say about the discount. We bought two ladies SS Oyster dates from Mayors. They offered a great zero % interest deal but you had to pay full MSRP.
Recently, I got a 12 mos no interes deal from another AD and also 15 % off MSRP on a GMT model. I think if I had asked for 20 off, I still might have gotten it. We don't know unless we try. You might also flash some cash and state you are ready to buy right now, here is the deal I need to make it happen. |

I'm confident you could get no tax when purchasing one or both of those at once. AD's here in Toronto are always quick to offer me an "all in - out the door" price even when I make it clear I'm only there to look lol

I second "ingoodtime's" response as well. Cash will do wonders for you in that situation. It let's them know you are serious and the sale is then there's to lose if they can't draw up a deal you like.

I have read on various boards that Rolex is taking a different approach soon. They are purchasing stock from troubled AD's to avoid further discounting and limit grey market sales. In the boom times AD's didn't discount and sold excess to Greys, this didn't bother them but now is different. They will probably cancel all parts accounts to watchmakers who have not gotten re certified very soon. This will boost there service business tremendously and on new watch sales stop the discounts. I do not expect the 20-40% discounts in the future anymore.Get what you can now or buy used.
