I've owned both. While the classic black dial is my favorite of the two I think the white dial would offer you a little more diversity since you already have the ND submariner. But you can't go wrong with either and I suspect will want to add the other at some point.

Check them both out in an Omega boutique and take a few photos on the wrist. You can then think about it at home and make a decision. Or flip a coin. Both are fantastic chronographs. My personal choice would still be the black 3861 with Hesalite. Good luck!

I've owned various classic Moonwatches over several generations over the past 25 years, and a few days ago added the white dial to my black 3861 Hesalite. I love the white dial, which just has bit more of a luxury feel to it with the gloss dial and sapphire crystal. The black dial is just classic, and looks far more like the instrument that it was designed to be. Personally, if I had to keep one, it would have to be the black dial. The character of the watches is different enough that owning both doesn't feel like having a duplicate in the collection. In terms of cost, owning both is roughly what a single current-issue stainless Rolex professional model is trading for in the secondary market.

OG black for me. I find that in real life the black has more depth. The white looks best, in my opinion, on a black strap.

Good luck with your choice.

I got the white - I’ve got a few black dial watches and my one Rolex is black dial similar to you.

The speedmaster always appealed to me in terms of history and style but wasn’t quite interesting enough to make me buy it - the white with the pop of red was enough to push me over the edge and I don’t regret the choice at all.

I bought it on bracelet but, if I was doing it again, I’d try to get another strap option thrown in - probably the black rubber or perforated black leather. The bracelet’s ok but is my least favourite bit of the watch.

I agree with others here: Black dial with acrylic crystal

Your Submariner combined with that Speedmaster just might be the best two-piece collection a man can have

I would go white as you have a sub. Racing strap looks the business!

I don't understand.

The black one sells for 7700 euro, the white one for 9000 euro. That's 16700 euro. Which Rolex are you talking about?

Even used it's 5000 euro + 8000 euro.

I’d get white for nice contrast in a 2 piece collection. Btw, I’d also pick white in a vacuum as I prefer it to the black. I simply love the black markers

Since you have a black dial watch, I would say the white dial!

Black, because it's the classic. You can get the white later if you love it.

I wrestled with this same decision last year, and went black. I’m happy I did.

I sold my black dial SS, so I think that means white for me. Although moonshine gold on rubber is still my fave! (At preowned prices that is)

The hesalite Speedy would be sufficiently distinct from your Sub, even with its black dial. It’s a totally different vibe. If you are set on sapphire for your Speedy, though, I think the white would be the way to go. Just my $0.02. Sub and Speedy are a killer two watch collection!

Since you have a black Submariner definitely go white on the Speedy

I'd much rather have a white plus a black watch than two black watches. Mix it up a little!

Obligatory photo attached

I also think the white really pops on the black rubber strap. I purchased on bracelet and then added the strap.

Well, now one can buy the black AND the white for basically the cost of just the black.

I saw a white one in the window of a Watches of Switzerland last week.

Looks like no longer restricted to Omega Boutiques.

Maybe discounts next on the horizon…?
