Has anyone grown to appreciate Tudor more and more over time?

After a 7 year or so watch journey that touched multiple Pateks, many Rolexes including PM models I have found myself really looking towards Tudor.

With the way the world is at the moment I find Tudor so much easier to wear out and also travel with. They are also actually delivering on what people want. I recently picked up a Tudor BB Chrono Blue boutique edition. The jubilee like bracelet is very comfortable, the T-Fit is almost as good as glidelock, it’s a beautiful blue and has a date which I really enjoy having on a daily driver. This watch has none of the baggage of wearing a daytona, no hype, no worrying about covering it up in certain areas etc etc. I don’t care if I get sand in the bracelet links when I’m off to the beach etc. The watch is so much more legible. It will be interesting to see how much wrist time this Tudor takes from my 3 Daytonas. I suspect a tonne…

It’s just pure enjoyment… The way watch wearing should be.

Now if Tudor could add display case backs, that would just be the best.

I think the Tfit is better than the Glide Lock. I have been wearing the BB41 Monochrome most of the past 10 mos and just got a Submariner Date last week. The Tfit is easier to adjust and slightly more comfortable for my smaller wrist. The two watches are an interesting contrast. Date vs no date, oyster vs jubilee, glossy ceramic bezel vs brushed aluminum.

All in all the Sub is a better watch, but the Tudor is really nice as well. I am glad to have had it this past year. I'd like to get a Tudor chrono. love the boutique blue version. It looks really nice.

Tudor (especially used) is a huge bang per buck. Love my BB58 blue.

I don’t get the part about the “way the world is.” I can wear a Rolex or any watch when I want and where I want.

Yes, have several Rolex watches and I still use my tudor BB chrono quite often, specially with a sailcloth strap.

I have quite an affection for my MN22 Pelagos FXD Marine National.
I wear it for most of the summer as it’s so comfortable on a nato band and the dial is so legible.

Love my Tudors, tried BB 58 GMT multiple times, they wear nicer n fitter than Sub, for I have small wrist.
Haven't bought any watches the last 3 years or so.

I have a Rolex OP that I’ve had for 7 years and received a BB54 from my wife for my 30th this past July. Love both, but the BB54 is the perfect diver for my 6” wrist. I’ve lusted for a 5 digit sub for some time, but the BB54 has changed that desire. I’d now say a 5 digit GMT is on my wishlist. Maybe for the 40th birthday :)

I definitely think Tudor is doing really great things and find their releases more interesting these days.

No. However, that blue Chrono is a very nice Tudor!

Honestly sort of meh on Tudor. I've owned like 5 of them over the years and none have stuck. Not sure why that is, but I tend to get bored with them over time.

I do like that blue chrono a lot. No intention to buy one for the reasons mentioned above.

That’s interesting, yes will be good to see how I feel about this watch in another 2-3 years

If they tweaked the BB58 GMT a little: jubilee, no-gilt

If they made a blue dial Pelagos 39

I may be tempted.

I like Tudor. I own and have beat the crap out of my BB58 through various means.

Great watch.

But as of now that’s probably the last Tudor I’d buy.

I just enjoy wearing my Rolex models so much more.

Although it’s a tad more doe, I’d rather have a SMP 300m over the BB58.

The reasons you state are very valid and I have the same view. They are watches of high quality, can take a beating, and can be worn in places where you might be reluctant to wear a Rolex. I have nothing against them at all. I had a BB GMT for years that served me very well as a travel watch.

I’m eyeing a Tudor GMT right now to complete the set. I love my Pelagos 39 as an action/adventure type watch. A GMT would complete a lovely trio.

Which GMT do you have?

I switched from the BB GMT to the Grand Seiko GMT. For my purposes, the GS is a better fit. The Tudor was a tad more utilitarian than I wanted, especially for cruising. The GS dialed it up a notch. Better watch to handle both sport and dressier situations IMO.

You have great taste, my current travel watch is the SBGN005. The quartz is great and all but I do desire a mechanical.

That's a beauty! Nothing wrong with a quartz GS and that is one of my favorites. Very similar to my spring drive.

Total opposite.
I used to like the older Tudors, the 79000 series was the last one I liked.
I have bought a couple Tudors (late night spontaneous purchases) the past couple years and they sit in the vault as I don't care for them and have been too lazy to sell them.

for me it has been the other way around. I used to like Tudor (have owned two - Pepsi got and black bay 41 with blue bezel). Overtime I stopped like their case shapes. I dont what it is but the cases just do not seem right to me (bit too roundish for my taste).

Yeah I can see how it could go the other way, gateway drug into the “real thing” if you will.

I initially did not have an eye for Tudor when I first got into the hobby. I burnt out after a bad experience buying used Rolex and took a long hiatus. It was a Tudor that brought me back to this crazy hobby.

No. Less and less since they moved away from their ETA roots (I have two). I’ve got my watch situation dialed in these days, it takes a lot to pique my interest. Having said that the Monochrome is talkin’ to me but so far not enough to spend for it.

I believe he’s talking about it being much less apt to be targeted by thieves, and we’ve all heard of such occurrences in tourist areas of large cities, such as London, Paris, New York, San Francisco, etc. When I drive to SF for the day, I leave my Rolexes at home. To answer the OP’s question, when I saw a fellow member wearing the OG BB58 a few years ago, I told him how much I liked it, and that I might pick one up. He PMed me, and said he was thinking of selling it, and now it’s mine. It came to me all the way from the UK. I love it.
