Patek Philippe rare handcrafts 2025

I have seen some nice pics on internet. Does anyone know how any of us can access to these pieces? More importantly, where could we check the price? I can't find any info at all. Cheers

The rare handicrafts are usually offered to Patek VVIPs. AFAIK they are usually applications pieces, so a Patek AD would have to apply for these pieces on behalf of a client.

Some VVIP clients are offered a preview of these watches at the Watch and Wonders, where they can make their requests to Patek directly if they are a client of a Patek Salon.

Since the Geneva Salon has these watches on exhibition, I would imagine the sales team there would have the pricing for each piece. Some ADs who get allocation may also have the pricing sheet.

If you get to see these rare hancraft pieces on exhibition, they are really special pieces. I have only had one opportunity to purchase a piece. But the pricing didn't work out for that particular piece. It seems they don't come up for sale on the secondary market very often as the original purchasers tend to keep them in a safe long-term. There is another online watch forum where owners tend to show these pieces worn on their wrists from time to time.

The other watch forum may be considered a competitor, so I don't know if we are allowed to name it here

However you should be able to find it with a simple search. A lot of members here are also members there. The discussion topics are somewhat different there and you can often see posting of rare watches.

Best of luck!

Rare Handcrafts

Over the years I have purchased a few. The process is simple:

Be a long term customer/collector and let your AD know of your interests. My last request took two years; which was not for a specific watch, just a rare handcraft. When the watch arrived I had a simple choice; to purchase or not.

Price was never discussed until the watch arrived.

Side story: I was traveling once (Asia) and visited another AD. They would barely acknowledge me, but when they saw the Handcraft my wife was wearing everything changed.

Best of luck with your quest.

Thanks for your info. Its helpful. I searched on this forum and I found the price could be accessed on the price list back in 2015 or so. Anyway, please share with me of your pieces. If it's ok with you, please let me know the price as well. Cheers mate

Seems about right for an Enamel dial Calatrava.

Prices are probably higher for Marquetry watches and those with special gemstone.

I can't remember if the Enamel dome clock prices were on par with the Enamel dial Calatravas. Dome clocks have more Enamel artwork on the surface, but has a quartz movement.

It's been almost 10 years since I actively looked at these rare handicrafts, and prices have gone up since then, of course. In the mid-2010s, Enamel Calatrava prices started in the 80k range (USD/CHF/EUR) IIRC.

This is the only price list I can find in 2015 from the forum, and I was told it was around 100k pounds in 2023 for Enamal Calatrava.

There's something about the rare handcrafts that my economist mindset can't quite get it:

It's rare, reserved for the VVIP (if I'm not wrong ? And even harder to get an allocation compared to the average nautilus?) and despite it's scarcity (10 pieces per ref usually), really doesn't do well when it pops on auctions, doesn't do well at all on the grey market even at a "normal" price or lower...

I can understand the savoir-faire and the love for art, but these still costs a hundred grand and above... When talking about a watch this expensive without complications, it's always nice to have in mind it still is worth something so I'm trying to understand where is the appeal ? Did I miss something ?

(Please be indulgent and do not destroy me in your feedbacks, I'm really trying to understand )

i am asking myself the same question.....my take is that the rare handcrafts have become collectors' pieces and on that level people want their name on the certificate but maybe more export people can chime in.
in fact most of the wristwatch rare handcrafts are nice artisan pieces (some are outright ugly though) but overpriced and hyped. mainly their relative scarcity give them the status they obtained. mind you, i do get the enamel world timers (i own 5231J and G), they have horological value which partly justifies their price tags. but i fail to see the pleasure of wearing birds, snakes, cars etc. on my wrist. but to each his/her own:::)))

Dad Stern brilliantly ensured Patek Philippe kept the handcrafts... and yes they are awesome.

In my view, the RHC that you go for has to truly resonate with you. My AD said he would put me up for one, and I got close last year, but the theme (the billiards players) just didn’t resonate with me enough. If there is another alpinism / mountain theme in marquetry or enamel, that would put me over the ledge. But that is my greatest passion, and to have that passion represented on a watch would be incredibly meaningful. (ie, something with Chamonix, like the Aiguille du Midi or something, would be a instant purchase). Short of something meaningful, I pass.

How did you communicate with your AD? Which one did you apply? Do you know the price beforehand? Thanks for your inputs

I communicated with my AD in person; told him I was interested in a RHC.
I didn't apply for a specific piece; I don't think the AD has that kind of leverage. They "get what they get". I did not know the price.

A year or so later a watch arrives; and my choice was to simply purchase, or not.

I have two RHC

The idea of rare handcrafts is to reward customers who are bored after collecting many Patek including the most complicated ones, and with no other references to acquire next. At W&W, every AD will ask Patek for one and most AD will not be getting it because there are too few pieces made.

i think most of the rare handcraft pieces are not really hard to get. this year i was asked by both my ADs if i wanted one from the WW exhibition. i said no thanks and got the 5231G instead. it is nice as a complement of my 5231J.

To clarify, you were asked if you wanted to put your name forward for a rare handcrafts.
