Has anyone put the 30m WR to the test?

I personally would love it if I could go to the pool with my calatrava. I bring this up since omega explicitly states that 50/60m WR is supposed to be a true number, and should have no issues swimming. So I did, I wore my railmaster 57 to the pool, not even swimming and it let in water. Sent it in for service, wore it again to the pool, and again it let in water....I'm glad they didn't charge me or accuse me of abusing the watch but it was pretty disappointing it wouldn't be reliable simply going to the pool.

Since PP changed their criteria for the PP Seal in 2024, any timepiece rated « 30 m » can be used for aquatic activities which include showering and diving to a depth of 30 m. (see https://static.patek.com/pdf/pressre...nd_Wonders.pdf, page 5.)

This rating does obviously not apply to the straps.

I took mine to a depth of 1m in 105 degree mineral baths. Plus I shower with it every day and have swum with it. Non issue.

Yea, but I guess I just was wondering who does. Was disappointed that my omega didnt survive twice in 2 months and that was supposed to be a true 60m

Well, could be a worn seal or gasket?

The right tool for the right job. While some watches are limited, 30m WR, others are set up for water and other activities. The subset of individuals who look to use tools that are not meant for a specific task is always amusing to me. Between those and individuals who intentionally abuse items and say look at me I will do whatever I want with my property I get a good laugh. The Calatrava is not a dive or swim watch, period. Can it go in the water, sure, with the right strap, but really.

Why would anyone want to swim with a Calatrava on a strap? Just add a second watch to your lineup designed to swim with and rated at least to 100m. Remember, PP always advised, as to their WR watches, that they be checked each year for pressure proofness. I would swim with watches from companies who don't advise that, but that is just me.

AWESOME!!!! I have the 4947 and I wear it as a daily....I havent taken it swimming yet just because weather hasn't warmed enough yet but I will be swimming in mine for sure. PP was very clear when they stated that the watches are now rated to the true depth they are stated for....

It was pressure testing fine, the kicker was when jt happened a week after I got it repaired from omega. I have a 6007 and a world timer, which are in croc straps but I have waterproof delugs straps. When I travel I usually don't take multiple watches, so was just curious. I get that they aren't diver watches but i do think it is kind of nice that they theoretically should be a real 30m and not just splash only. The thought of using a 4947 or 5905 wherever is an interesting thought, but I doubt I actually would.

Can I ask where the water entered the watch?

Have to assume the crown. The time was off, tried manually winding it to get it started and don't know how to describe it except it felt off. I've usually been in the camp that if the brand stands by their product it's fine, but nowadays I'm a bit skeptical

If you accidentally press one of the buttons under water: GAME OVER
