Seiko Boutique visit

I went to the Seiko Boutique in Barcelona, Spain with great hopes for a huge selection and was unfortunately underwhelmed. It was a nice enough store but small. They had a nice selection but not that many pieces. There is a better selection here in my hometown at a local jeweler. And the prices were significantly higher in the Boutique. I had a bit of interest in a SPB189 Prospex Ti Diver, but they wanted something like 1680 euros, with no discount available, where the same watch is $1500 retail in the local store and they give at least a 10% discount. So $660 more to buy in Spain, not counting any import duty that I may have had to pay. I was surprised a bit, maybe I will look for it here at home.

I imagine that quoted price included the VAT of 21%?

I am not sure, the salesman did not say so and that was the price on the Seiko sticker. Even if it did have VAT included, it was more expensive than buying at home.

Prices in Europe always include the sales tax (21% in Barcelona, so a little over €350 for the watch). I wasn’t sure by your post if you had already deducted it. Also, as a non-European, remember you can get most of that VAT refunded when leaving Europe.
