31 Datejust thoughts (for wife)

Hi all

We are looking to get the wife a Rolex. She has a very specific want and we are trying to be under $20k out the door.

We very recently added her to our AD waitlist but not having bought a Rolex (we have IWC, Omega, and Tag) i know we will stay on it all while.

We went with a 31 datejust two tone rose gold, flutted bezel, Jubilee with a pink dial and diamonds. Its what she wants

Her only dream add on is the diamond bezel but that puts us well over

We did this and the reason for this thread is she fell in love with a used 31 we found here local.

It is still avaliable for $16,500.00 my only issue is the bezel is not factory, it is real diamonds but not from Rolex. The wife really wants to go and buy it as we are aware we are prob a year to 2+ out with this AD (have a friend on year 3 wait with them).

What's the opinion on the watch she wants at $16,500? Fair cost?

Dial is 100% factory, yes it is not Jubilee but she didn't seem to care when she put it on. Just don't want to get taken for a ride on thr cost is all

Are 31 as hard to find at an AD as men’s watches (eg is it the same runaround?)

As far as a fair market price, check on eBay, chrono24, Swiss watch expo for similar examples

Ya the 31 is a huge pain to get from an AD sadly. Especially with the two tone.

I have went all over chrono 24 but most everything is a 23 or newer so not a ton of true comp.

In my gut it feels like a fair prices, not great but not bad. If that's the case I think we will go pick it up but like to cross check if I can.

In your link there is 1 for $22k of exactly this but it is all factory and that's were i am struggling.is having thre non-factory bezel that big of a deal?

I would not get it with an aftermarket bezel and the oyster bracelet. For a buy this expensive it would be right and OEM. I would get on the phone and start calling all of the AD's in your region and then branch out if not successful. The watch is out there, it is just a matter of finding it. Good luck and keep us posted.

The oyster oddly not a thing once she putnitnon. So it boils to the bezel which is a me thing. She doesnt care one bit as long as it's diamonds lol.

The though was buy this (maybe) and keep it till the AD one arrives. Her best friend is the one going on year 3 also for a two tone 31 but different dail. We would then sell this one the new one came in

If it’s a long time keeper I wouldn’t worry too much about the aftermarket bezel..but if your thinking about selling or trading within a couple of years ..it’s not original..and it’ll cost you because most wouldn’t want it unless it’s a Rolex Bezel

that one is really overpolished and with an aftermarket bezel 16.5k is a complete scam. a 31 with a diamond bezel is 19k brand new at an AD. it'll be a little over 20 out the door so a trusted seller should be able to get you that price or lower. reach out to a few of them and get a quote, it shouldn't be hard to source

buying this one and selling it later is an even worse idea because you'll probably get offered like 8-10k for it if you're lucky

Very lucky if ever,

Don’t settle, get her the jubilee bracelet and fluted bezel. You can source an aftermarket diamond bezel if she still wants it. The combination of jubilee and fluted shimmers beautifully.
Wise to do some more homework and approach the boutique sellers in the for sale section to avoid getting scammed

Call any of the trusted sellers and they will find the exact watch she wants. Rolex is known for the quality of their diamonds. I would not want a Rolex with aftermarket diamond bezel. The one in your pic looks over polished. Keep looking.

Has anyone delt with "Luxury of Watches"?

https://www.luxuryofwatches.com/role...d-dial-178271/

Around here it is hard to find a reputable sale place, the AD is Mayors and takes forever and all the larger and known jewelry shops are WAYYYYY over priced on anything they have or will source for you as we tried that prior to finding this.

there are two on Luxury of watches that fit the bill but never heard of them

The expedience is not worth the compromise. Even if she doesn’t know the difference between factory and aftermarket bezel, between overpolished and new, you do now. Shop other trusted venues as advised while you continue to wait. Do this calmly, do this right, do this once.

She does not get any of that and overly doesn't care which I understand. I do and I did note when we tried it on about the over polishing. When we were on site they claimed it was all factory but once we left I got a call about the bezel on being factory which I voiced my discontent for.

As stated in my post below. Finding a trusting seller in the area is not that easy. We have been on the hunt for some time now (about 6 months) and she is staring to get frustrated which is why waiting the year or more for new is kind of out of the question.

I have put my eyes on a ladies datejust locally to me, Eustis, Florida. I do not know any details about it, nor its history. I do know the seller is motivated to unload it as it is not something his customers are looking for.

I sent you a IM, I can send you a pic via text if you want.

Looks like you’re about two hours from David SW. it doesn’t get any easier or more trusted than that.

Take this advice! See what David can do for you. He is one of the forum%’s trusted sellers. I never heard of Luxury of Watches.

I just emailed them to see what they might have. We are actually at Universal (across the street) this weekend and the original watch was also in Orlando at Disney Springs.

I would agree on David SW and I would not want an aftermarket bezel period...

Diamond is a MUST very non-negotiable on that with her

If it is a new style jubilee it can have a fluted bezel for the time that will likely get replaced for an aftermarket diamond one but then I can keep the original unlike the one for sale that does not come with the original.

Two no wiggle room items are Two One rose gold and Diamond numbers on the dial. Those are hard MUST for her.

From those watch looks like it has been either polished many times or once poorly. Very rounded. It’s a pass for me.

they should be able to source one for you fairly easily. at that point you might as well try for one with a diamond bezel if their price aligns with your budget. you're gonna end up spending more money buying one with a fluted bezel then swapping it with an aftermarket bezel, not to mention voiding the warranty

i realize at this point she wants one bad but there's no reason to cut all these corners when you can just get the one she wants. trusted sellers source watches from all over the world so it's not the same as waiting months to a year at one AD

More good advice! You won’t wait very long, if go with David SW. Let him source exactly what your wife wants. Good luck, and do post pics, once you get her the watch.

Yes it’s actually Diamonds International in Disney Springs I think they have another name attached like Luxury In Time..They sell about every luxury brand of watches plus lots and lots of jewelry.and they always have pre owned Rolex’s in stock…I think they had a ladies smaller MOP Diamond Dial and Bezel in the display case...this company has about 130 stores worldwide I picked up a Tanzanite Ring last Saturday that I had set in one of their vast selection of settings and they are very easy to work with
Don’t get them mixed up with International Diamonds near one of the malls.their bad!! Springs is really a nice place to shop and eat and no charge for parking or to get in. Good Luck
