It’s all about your relationship with your AD. If you do not have any prior history with your local AD, the wait could be extremely long. If you want to go AD route, you need to visit in person and build rapport. If you’re lucky maybe 2-3 months. I second others recommendations going TS. The premium isn’t much for a sub date after factoring taxes when you buy local from an AD.

I have a good relationship with my AD and it still took 3 months to source a sub. I think it could have been sooner had I been in contact more often early. Once I really started dropping by often and texting regularly it took about 2 weeks.

just buy the cheapest one without papers

you'll never use the warranty or the papers

I have rolexes for over 30 years that have never been serviced

I prefer to buy my diamond and PM watches from the AD because I want to be the only one who ever wore it. I even tell them to present it to me in the original plastic coffin.

Any differences in the paperwork if new from a grey?

As enticing as it may seem to go grey, and as impossible as it may seem to get one retail, cast a wide net, keep up relations, and you'll have one within 6 months from when ADs open again.

Places I have asked, Australia - and Northern Europe - 2 years has been the standard response. I am not sure if they are over estimating to look good when they deliver early, or managing other customer expectations who are spending more than me?

Thanks!

Your AD would answer this question correctly depending on his stock and the availability but it’s May take from 3 to 11 months and also putting down a certain percentage as an Advance payment would help.
