Looks awesome! :D Is the lug width 18mm on yours too, like the newer OP?

Thank you. This one is 19mm.

What do you think about the width on the new 34mm? I am really leaning towards 34mm because of its classic looks. As I said, it’ll taper from 18mm to 16mm.

Are you saying 18 to 16 on a strap, based on the width of available buckles? Because the bracelet tapers 18 to 14.

I think 18 to 14 is too much taper for a strap, especially since it has the larger, wider clasp.

Don't think you can get an 18mm Rolex OEM buckle, but if you could you could even try it on a NATO strap (or use a generic, if you don't care about OEM).

The watch head will look smaller by contrast, but the whole thing will be more substantial looking. Similar to the debate on which 36mm Explorer has the better footprint (114270 or 124270).

I’m honestly not sure as I haven’t seen one in person or tried one on. I think you just have to go with what feels comfortable. I wasn’t 100% sold on this watch when I first got it but grew to love it (and lost some weight/wrist size thereby making it a better fit for my body type).

No, sorry. I meant 18mm tapering to 16mm because of the size of the Rolex tang buckles.

Ok, yea, that makes sense. Figured as much.

As an aside, I was looking at the spring bar placement on an OP34 and they might actually accommodate a leather NATO strap (which, by the way, look good with generic buckles more so than others). Would definitely give it a beefed up look. For reference, check out the Hamilton Khaki Pilot Pioneer.

Regarding the spring bar placement. Would getting curved ends on the strap remove the risk of it getting damaged? Also, would the curved ends men that the gap between the watch and strap will be minimal? Would rather avoid the gap, but without any custom end links (don’t think there are any for the OP34).

Not sure about damage, I was thinking more about the gap, and it being large enough to thread a nato strap through. My only objection to a custom strap with curved ends to fit flush against the case is the loss of some of that vintage aesthetic.

But wouldn’t a straight ended strap just get scuffed? Or does the thickness matter in that case (e.g. a thin flat ended strap might work)?

This looks really good! I was thinking about putting my 126000 Silver on a navy or grey nato strap. Might have to try out green now!

Nor am I underestimating it. I just want a nice (modern) Rolex that easily works with different leather straps. I already have other watches that I wear on their original bracelets.
