Hi Imtiaz,
quite an impressive collection you have. As i can read in your description, some of your watches you had bought new, some slightly used. Here is my question: I am going to finally purchase the GMT IIc tomorrow in HK. I am buying it brand new from a friend of a friend, who has a watch and jewelry store in one of the hotels, however no AD. Even though he is very trustworthy, i would like to know what i should look for and which parts i should check before buying. He said he would get the watch brand new from an AD himself ( you know, all dealers and store owners in HK are somehow linked to each other). Anyways, its a great deal at HK 43000, or would you still recommend me to get it from an AD? THanks for your help! Phil |

1) 116713 GMT II 18K in HK cost HKD70K; per kakaku, in Japan cost JPY640,000 2) 116523 Daytona 18K/SS white dial in HK cost HKD94K, per kakaku, in Japan cost JPY850,000 Qa.Can I believe Jackroad, DUEL-MONTRES, Quark, Kamekichi? especially duel montres, the price (including tax) is lowest. Qb. Are they selling authentic and brand new rolex? Qc. If buyer is foreign traveller, how many tax could be refunded? Qd. Could you go to some shops list above to make a reserch on this 2 model watch for me? Which shop offer tax refunded, brand new rolex? Thanks in advance! Imtiaz |

Prices in Japan are starting to rise again, albeit, slowly. About 5% to 8% in the past two months. Check the price of GMT Master's - they have come down a lot. All stores mentioned in Qa are highly reputed. I have bought 2 from Jacksroad, 2 from Kamekichi. Quark I have never purchased but I drop in from time to time. Duel-M, I did visit but was not impressed with the store, quite dirty and only one staff. Also Duel-M does not take credit cards. All sell authentic Rolexes. All have New & Used. Qc. You need to ask the tax question from each store. The govt. rule is 5% GST is not charged, but last week I purchased a Green Sub new from Kamekichi. They told me that they offer tax free on Used but not on new. I was very surprised as this is totally illogical. Qd. I am away in Sydney, Aust. on vacation. Will be back 5th May. Are you coming to Japan soon (or already here). Prices are easy to get as all stores have very updated websites. The tax is just 5% some cases, it's better to forget the tax discount and go to the cheaper store. KOMEHYO in Shinujuku and Yurakucho has some really good deals on unused Rolexes. Last month I picked up a V serial No date Sub for Yen30,000 less than a brand new one. The watch was brand new, but by law if it has been owned by a consumer it cannot be sold as New. Can be sold as unused. Cheers Imtiaz |
