As a left hander, I would just like to say thank you Rolex . For finally giving a minority group a watch ,made specially for us instead of thinking about sales

As a left hander thanks Rolex for making a hideous rendition of great classic watch.

As Trump use to say back in the day when he was an actor, “you’re fired”

If you wear it above the wrist bone, it should never touch it, unless you wear it loose such that the watch is allowed to go past your wrist bone. But I guess that depends a lot on how you like to wear your watch and the geometry of your wrist.
Apologies for my roundabout point...

The fact that right-handed people (usually) wear their watches on their left wrist leaves the ideal crown position for winding and setting as suboptimal for wearing.

It's not a fit issue for me; it's the design idea that the crown is on the hand side.

The number one injury in the WIS world happens when right-handers do pushups while wearing their IWC Big Pilot.

I am a lefty and wouldn’t wear it. It will look completely stupid on the left hand.

I'll give it a go and see how it wears. I like the color, just does seem odd when looking at the layout.

I put in a pre-order when it was suspected the green was coming, and reaffirmed I wanted it even as a lefty watch.

I just posted a thread about this - I think you would only have to get a new dial and date wheel. I don't think you would need a new movement.

I probably would. I asked to get on the list for one regardless. Will decide once I see it in person (if/when that happens... not holding my breath).

Over the course of the day this has grown on me. Though I still think kind of a strange release. What I think would've been better suited and personally something I would wear is a Destro version of the Explorer 2 on my left wrist. That imo makes more sense as a tool watch to have the crown facing away from typical impact zones. That certainly would make me more likely to wear an Explorer 2 rock climbing for example if a Destro.

Coming from the Panerai world, destros have always seemed odd to me. Probably great for left-handed people. Not for me.

Why not grab a 116710LN and switch bezels?

I a week or so a replica bezel will be available.

Best of both worlds

So if I take it off to wind it, and when I wear it the crown is at the back of my hand, what exactly makes it "right-handed" (or in reverse "left-handed")? Sure, it would be upside down if I preferred to wind it with my other hand but...

In my mind, left-handed and right-handed in terms of watches is strange.

To answer the original question, I will probably get one because I rarely wind my watch and I'd like to see what having the crown away from my hand is like.
Good point, the guy at the watch repair shop in my town has said not to wind a watch while it's on the wrist. He said it puts unnecessary pressure on the stem so to always take the watch off to change the time/date/wind it.

ofc it will, this watch is meant to be on your right wrist, instead of the usual left one...

This watch is great for anyone who has been wearing their watch (for whatever reason) on their right wrist, and can finally rock a Rolex with the date window in the correct position.

I don't understand, why people get so mad about it, with phrases like: it will look odd on my wrist... no shit sherlock, it is not meant to be on the "usual" left wrist.

Agree bezel would look nice on an 116710LN

I'm not keen on the green and I am R/handed.
They won't be available, unless you want to pay 3x mrsp, because AD's will be selling them through the back door to the blackmarket dealers, so I won't be buying one.
Geneva won't miss my £8,800.

PS. They should have gone the 'whole hog' and used the green crystal... now that would have been a statement!

Likely never ever; it's first of all a GMT which I've got no need for. Secondly it's left handed. And thirdly it's green which is fine for the dial but not so much for the bezel for me. It will come out as a rightie once the non-existent sales are noted and I told you sos said.

They do have history, I mean, we all need 12,800 ft of water resistance, don't we?

I'm right handed, and prefer to wear my watches on my right wrist.

Regardless of that fact, I'm not a fan of this new GMT, as I think the date window on the left is not aesthetically pleasing.

I buy what people hate. I live with my watches. I create memories with them. I share stories. This watch has a story. LMK when you are flipping.
