If I was offered it, I’d buy it …

If you can save a few bucks and don’t care where you get it then I don’t see the dilemma.

The watch has a US retail of $40.6K.

Takuya has one for $38.935 dated 10/21

Mdgrwl (watch exchange) has one for $37.5 dated 1/20.

We are talking 1-4% more $ for 20-40% more warranty, plus the added benefit of spend history and true 100% authenticity guarantee.

It's a no brainer.

Now if the watch wasn't in and you had no idea how long you would wait OR if the price delta was closer to 15-20% then absolutely go grey.

Funny, i see a shift in opinions about trusted dealers selling new watches. The last few years it was all “only MSRP for me” and those darn flippers and AD’s to i can get it below MSRP now at any trusted seller. It is still the same mechanism at work how those dealers get those new watches. Only now it is in our advantage.
Only now it's in our advantage? The grey dealers used to sell BELOW MRSP less than a decade ago, that's how it always was and there was nothing wrong with it.

Since 2017 a lot of new watch dealers popped up who are simply flippers and scalpers. I wouldn't call those guys real greys. And those guys are what is wrong with this ''hobby''. Then again, there are old school dealers who completely lost the plot as well and are overcharging.

If it's a watch you love and expect to keep, I think, you'll long term feel better you bought it brand new from Rolex. But only buy it if it's one you love and have been wanting, otherwise let the next guy on the "list" get it. Buy what you love and will enjoy.

I was on my ad list for this. I found a near brand new example 2022 for 36.5k. With our 10.25% tax rate going grey and saving nearly 10k is a no brainer.

Yes, buy from the AD, you will be the first owner with backing of the full FIVE year warranty starting on day one.

Who cares that it is selling below retail on secondary market.

A couple thousand difference I’d go AD. New and $5+k difference? The calculus changes then.

But spending $40k at an AD should open a lot of future doors for you if you are patient.

So the advantage of buying from an AD for this model is that for the amount of rose gold on the watch, I'm 1000% sure there are going to be a few, if not a lot, of micro scratches on the case and bracelet.

Now some would be okay with that. Some may want to buff those out. And still others will be annoyed about what to do.

At least with buying from the AD, along with 100% authenticity and creating a buying history, you are reasonably assured that any micro-scratches will have been made by you and not anyone else.
