A user here put it well
The black dial is more appealing, but the white is more interesting.

The metal bezel ring around the ceramic insert adds a nice flashy detail. I have a black 116500 and a white 126500. I like the newer model a bit more overall. Enjoy it! Daytona is my favorite Rolex model.

Then yesterday, I tried on the 126500LN and the minor tweaks to the Daytona’s design have transformed it into a far more attractive offering. The overall aesthetic has been elevated.
That's totally how I feel about the 126500 vs the 116500. The 12 converted me from someone who was totally indifferent to the Daytona, to someone who now has his name down for a 126500 with my AD.

Congrats on the pick up (from last year!)

I’m with you. I prefer the black dial. Very Darth Vadar-esque. The updates to the 12 series are a huge improvement and elevated the watch in my opinion. The gold oysterflex model speaks to me.

Just wanted to say thanks to everyone who congratulated me on the latest addition to my watch collection.

I thought that perhaps I should explain what convinced me to buy the 126500LN black dial Daytona, despite feeling underwhelmed after trying on the previous generations of Daytona.

1) steel ring around bezel

2) non-concentric sub-dials

3) bolder, thicker engraved fonts on bezel

4) hash marks broken up by triangle pointers

5) text on bezel is wrapped circularly I/O straight inline

6) sub dials are easier to read, silver I/o grey

7) symmetrical lugs

8) longer & sharper crown guards

Something looks a little weird on the lugs, did you add protective plastics?

Looks like the watch is fully protected with aftermarket stickers

The pusher action on the Daytona 4131 calibre is so smooth, it’s a true shame if we don’t use it more often.

Leave them unscrewed. They are just nuts on a threaded rod used as a door stop so you can't press the buttons. They provide nothing for WR.

The watch came with the stickers. It was installed by the previous owner. So I’ll just leave them on.

Congrats, by far the best looking SS Rolex in the catalogue. Old reference seems outdated now but still has its charms.

Beautiful, I much rather prefer the newer models. They really went back to the earlier zenith look.

Yes, I really like it. Feels like a one and done watch.

It’s still waterproof if not actuated (even by an accident bump) while subject to water pressure. Rolex recommends against leaving them unscrewed.
