Guys, i talked with the watchmaker, the problem now is the Movement... it has something broken and thats why it stoped, he told me that it has ine of the princiopal gears broken, the name he said was "Ancora" its in spanish and i dont have the word of the piece in english, he said he does not have a replacement piece and this could take a long time unless i get it somewhere else.... i know this is expencive and i cant afford it right now...

i miss my watch and i now i know it would be a long time when get to put it on my wrist again....

This whole thing sounds fishy to me. Now this guy has the watch he "sold" you, your $2500 and your other watches. Why not just get everything back and save money until you can afford a Daytona from a reputable dealer?

There are just too many things not right here.

I'd say you can see how legit the deal is by trying to back out and judging the reaction.

I hope you least have the record of monetary transaction (i.e. receipt).

well he is very serious.. i'm not scared at all about the money... what i was worried about is that if the whole watch case and dial is not quite fron one watch... is like he build a watch with differents parts, but now the movement is broken... i need parts that he does not have!!! i need help!!

From the sounds of it, I would definitely have a service center look at it. They will "estimate" it for free and tell you if anything doesn't belong.
Also as to times for repair and/or service, you mentioned it was taking like 3 weeks. That's not so unreal. The shortest estimated time I ever got was 4 weeks. I've learned that 4 weeks or more for anything non-surface or external cosmetics related is pretty common and reasonable for the job to be done right.

What I might be fishy about is if he is taking peices from yours and building another watch. It seems a common practice from many used/resellers.

so he has arround 3000... i guess is cheap..
So you gave him $2,500 without even asking him the final price? Is anything in writing? ? I highly doubt a jeweler would give someone a $15k+ watch on trust to come back and pay for the rest.

This jeweler now has Victors $2,500, 2 of his watches, and the Daytona and I have a feeling nothing is in writing. IT almost sounds like he pieced together a couple watches with some genuine some fake parts.

Victor how do you know the movement is real? There are a lot of fake movements our there than can fool the best.

I would run away from that proposition. Just too many unknowns.

I myself would have never even considered this deal. It seems the jeweler saw an opportunity here with someone who wanted something and was willing to believe anything to get what he wants.

Victor do your self a favor and get your money and watches back. There is something wrong with this deal and the bigest red flag is NO FINAL SALE PRICE ??? Get your stuff back ASAP.

It's a rip-off, get out now. Go in and demand your deposit back as well as your other two watches. Hopefully, this guy who spotted you a WG Daytona for $2500 isn't also telling you your SubDate is only worth part of $500.

Best of luck ... you're gonna need it I'm afraid.

I am not sure if you are in some serious state of denial or just totally blinded by this watch. Sorry if I sound rude but it is time to wake up and realize what this jeweler is doing. Snap out of the trance and the idea that you own a Daytona and get your money and watches back.

I can look at that picture and how the bracelet meets the case and tell you with 100% certainty that the watch is not an authentic Rolex WG Daytona. It could still potentially be an authentic SS Daytona...but a WG Daytona it is not. It's hard to describe, but in short, the WG bracelet does not curve at the same angle as the lugs when it approaches the first full link in the bracelet. As a result, the WG bracelet actually protrudes (or bubbles out) a little higher than the lugs as it curves away from the dial.

I agree with RooRocks. This deal sounds very very fishy. I would actually not be able to sleep probably. I think your first priority should be whether the watch is real or not. It should be getting your money back ASAP!!! You're telling us you agreed upon a deal without authenticating a watch from a dealer and without ANY sort of documents, boxes, etc... mind you and you had no final sales price?? That's not BUYING a watch, its more like renting/leasing a watch where there's no final price. Lastly, I thought this guy was a watchmaker. I'm sure he knew there was an issue with the watch movement and took the gamble that you would never ask what exactly he meant by minor maintenance. He also probably knew you would need to get it fixed sooner or later and by selling this watch to you, he could profit some more by helping you fix it. One question is, if you found out the movement is a shipwreck, would you have purchased this watch??

I don't think any of us here are to bust your balls but rather we're more afraid than you are...and that's a problem. I would be more concerned especially if you are holding a dead watch and you know you don't have the funds to fix it. I hope all goes well and you find a resolution soon!! Good luck to you Victor!!!
