Obviously both very popular Rolex models. As GMT Master says, depends whether you include the smaller ladies datejust's, or whether we are talking men's watches.

I think what you see in the wild vairies greatly to where you live/work. I work in the square mile of London and you never see a DJ, apart from mine. But I see subs by the bucket load.

IMO the DJ is more popular worldwide. I own both.

The sub seems to be the most popular with the younger guys and the datejust with the older fellows. They are definitely the most common.

When I bought my first Rolex 25 years ago, I did not consider anything else than a DJ fluted bezel, jubilee bracelet. I cannot remember trying on anything else. Was in and out of the AD in perhaps 5 minutes.
For the second one, I tried on the Milgauss GV, the Explorer II CB and CN and bought the CN. 10 minutes. My wife was waiting in the car double parked outside the AD.

I like the datejust, but I prefer the Submariner>>

I have two: a Sub date and a Submariner.

I really like the design and it's one of the most comfortable watches in my stable.

best,

Frank
