An AD may be authorized by Rolex to sell their watches but what exactly does that mean to you? You think you got a more authentic watch than the one I bought from a trusted seller show purchased it directly from an AD? Like someone else stated, many of them buy directly from US AD's who are overstocked

In regards to saving a few bucks - So people that by a used Mercedes shouldnt be buying Mercedes? How about being the 2nd, 3rd, or 4th owner of a home. Are they allowed to buy a home?
Well stated.

You ceratinly can take a short drive up A1A to Shops At Bal Harbor. Plenty of places to look at watches. All brands represented.

When I'm going to make an investment of this amount the last place I'm going to buy it is somewhere or from someone that is unauthorized to sell it. Thats all I was saying.

I wonder why Rolex authorizes certain stores besides their boutiques to sell their watches? They have the most protected brand in brand history.

For the record I'm not an AD. I do treasure my relationship I've developed with my AD and I'm greatly rewarded for it in many ways including a huge discount. This is how its done.

If it's just about saving a little money, then you have missed the boat and probably shouldn't be buying a Rolex anyway.
I don't understand what value there is to you if someone is authorized or not; not buying from an AD is not equivalent to buying a stolen product. It’s not like Rolex considers you a friend for following their ideal business plan.

You make it sound like buying from anywhere else is a bad idea, and you really have no basis to make such a statement. I think this is the main reason why everyone seems to disagree with you. An AP/Rolex/PP bought from an authorized dealer has zero difference from one bought elsewhere; except possibly one - the discount you get by not going the AD route.

I can see how you value your relationship with you AD and it’s great, that over time, this relationship has gotten you significant discounts. But not everyone that buys a Rolex is going to buy several other ones and become a valuable customer such as yourself. Saying that someone who is trying to save money while purchasing ANYTHING, shouldn't buy it in the first place, is not only wrong but arrogant.

The only example of buying a watch from an AD would make sense, is if the watch is impossible to get due to how new it is. Then I too would prefer an AD, since the difference between both markets would be minimal. But for anything else, I rather save a few thousand dollars on my purchase, instead of giving it to my AD.
