There are a ton of trophies on this thread I'm guilty myself of posting some of the Crème de la Crème of new world and old world vineyards. They are fantastic wines for sure I just get so much pleasure out of drinking regional wines from more humble varietals and lesser pedigrees, after all you can't drink premier cru every night, the French and Italians don't.
Sure there is Beaujolais, but it doesn't have to be an actual peasant-wine to be what I'm talking about, probably closer to peasant then First Growth's however. Please share some of your favorite "also" wines!! I love Dolcetto's, the "lesser" red varietal of Piedmont, great food wine, it's a great share with family and friends when you don't want to crack that 20 year old Barolo you've been saving. French Chenin Blanc from Loire or 11 dollar Alsatian Pinot Blanc’s, can't beat them!! There is also my wife's favorite, Rosè's from Provence. They too USED to be affordable... Now the good ones are thirty dollars plus because of trendy shows about ladies-who-lunch and drink pink booze... Anyway share some of your humble-plunk, what do you drink when it's not a "raid the cellar" day? ![]() ![]() ![]()
