RM owners are not concerned with price or justification of such, they buy because they want to and enjoy the exclusivity of the brand.

An RM owner would not think about a this or that with Rolex, because they probably have a few already.

Most commenting on RM have not ever tried on, probably ever seen one in person and certainly not visited their factory to really understand what goes into these watches. As a owner of various RM's over the years, I can say with full confidence that it's an amazing brand and watch.

Then again you're asking the question in a Rolex forum--go figure.
this is the man who knows RM and I agree they are stunning watches!!

but no secret I am a Daytona guy…

London Marcus boutique type dealer of ap/hublot/RM had a massive price reduction advertising a few months ago - up to 40% off it was I think ..

I remember recalling how shocked I was

To me for the likes of RM - value/price can change hugely which put me off...

Which specific models? Love the term "UP TO" (advertising term for basically nothing). Not any hot ones assured--okay maybe all Hublots LOL.

But then again, getting 30% off a Platona is not impossible at all.

Buy what you like and enjoy.

Between those two, I'd go with your original grail (RM).

I had a Platona offered to me in a favourable trade but passed - felt nice on the wrist, but I am not a fan of that shade of brown. Total deal breaker for me. Would rather go for WG or RG versions of the Daytona.

A grail for me is a watch I would want to keep forever and possibly become my only watch. The RM ticks neither of those boxes for me, so the Daytona would win easily from this pair.

Flash Sale at Jomashop on a NIB Platona. Only $51,995. I almost bought it but remembered that I have to pay my electric bill this month

Like Texex, I have owned a few RM's. A number of years ago, before they were so trendy. They are Special! But, so is the Platona. As has been said, they couldn't be more different.

You could (theoretically) own just the Platona and wear it every day. Not so, IMO, with the RM.

You'll just have to decide how either would fit into your collection, and, most importantly in the end, which one sings to you more.

I wear mine everyday and know plenty of RM owners that rotate theirs to wear RM almost all of the time...just a different opinion.

Let's face it...most people won't spend $50k on a Daytona much less $130k++ for a RM...so those that do, enjoy the heck out of them!
Different strokes

IMO, If you are talking about $75-$100k for a watch and you are talking about it being a daily wearer. Does price really matter?? I am guessing if you like RM and can afford it, one should be able to afford both.

Neither of those would be my grail...but if I had to choose, it would be the Platona.

Both have their die hard followers because both are special watches, but in the end, I chose this:
