I think Daytona C is a superb piece. Have you tried one on yet?

Chrono24? I bet 75% of those ads are from speculators that don't have a actual watch in stock.

On the wait too & been told to expect 30 months wait from my UK AD. That's after recently purchasing the Platona and the Pepsi WG GMT from them. So no favours. I'll wait since no other option except forget it which isn't an option.

Worthiness is a relative question, it has different meaning to different people! I have always wanted a Daytona, but for some unknown reason, I thought it was a much bigger watch. It's not until a few months ago, I realized it's actually 40mm (same as the Submariner I have been wearing for years). I started looking, and that's when I found the 116500LN. I didn't hesitate until I found a relatively lower price from another wonderful member of this group, and bought it instantly. I have worn it for 2 months now, and I can't help but grin every time I look at it. Is it worth the extra premium? YES, every single cent.
