I had the 116710 LN and traded for the BLNR as it looked too much like my ceramic Sub. I have been very happy and don't regret it one bit.

BLNR for sure! I just got one and absolutely love it. Do not think about the free service / to me that is a non-issue. Get the watch you want. The BLNR is harder to acquire and will hold its value better.

Decision made! Although if BLNR was available at my local AD I would have bought it, since it wasn’t, I went with the LN. I called every AD within a 2.5 hour drive and no one had it. The nail in the coffin was when Milwaukee sold their last one on Friday (I was going to drive there today to pick it up). That being said I love the LN and the free overhaul from my AD was the icing on the cake.

I had the same dilemma a couple of months ago before I bought my subC

To me the submariner was the winner and I never regretted it. I think for a first Rolex it is a great choice. To me The blue black GMT as a second and not a first Rolex. I know a lot will disagree with me on that but also many will agree to that.

See which one speaks to you more and go with that even if it’s against what everyone here advices

I would've gone for the BLNR (biased), but the LN is a great looking watch. I didn't fully appreciate how elegant it looks until I saw it on Clapton's wrist at the Royal Albert Hall Slowhand at 70 show. I like the GMTs in general since there are just so many Subs out there and it's usually the first Rolex that people gravitate to. I also find the GMT and date complications to be much more practical than 300m of WR since I'm not diving everyday but I sure do need to know the time in two time zones. While adding or subtracting is not a problem, it's nice just being able to quickly glance at my wrist. It's also perfect for traveling.

I would like to pick up a Sub one day and while I like the clean, symmetrical look of the ND dial, it would be hard for me to choose it over the Date which has one of Rolex's most praised movements imo. It's also very useful to be able to glance at the date whenever you have to sign documents, etc. The only Rolex without a date I wouldn't hesitate buying is the Daytona since the chronograph function makes up for it.

I had to make the same decision recently but the classic look and versatility of the LN made it easy once I tried them on.

Yasss! Get the BLNR. I am curious with free first service, will the watch be sent to Rolex USA or will it be worked on by the AD's in-house watchmaker?

I was leaning LN but ended up with the BLNR. Both equally great looking watches and I think you’ll be happy choosing either one.

I love the green GMT hand and font line on the dial of the LN. the BLNR’s black blue ceramic bezel is one of a kind mesmerizing. It all boiled down to what was available at the time for me.

I would buy what I really want now. Otherwise you will end up waiting for another opportunity and not enjoying your new watch as much. I like the blue on dials, whether it is blued hands, blue dial, or their combo, but longer I think about it, more I believe that if I decide to add GMT, I would go for LN (depends on other watches in your collection to include non-Rolex models). LN seems easy on eye and versatile.

Edit: Congrats on your new purchase!

Nice choice OP. BLNR is very cool, but I couldn't see my way to spending almost $3k more for it.

BLNR without doubt. Like others have said, the free service probably wont be needed for many years

I had a similar conundrum a few weeks ago -deciding between a BLNR and a 116610LN as my first Rolex- and went with the BLNR. The blue just does it for me, even though I’ve wanted a Sub for years. Congrats on your purchase either way.

If it were my only Rolex, I’d go for LN. If it were part of a larger collection, BLNR.

Need help: new 116710LN or 116710 BLNR

I purchased the LN 2 years ago. Flipped it and now have the BLNR (pictured a few posts up).

Had I bought the BLNR to start I would have saved a lot of money on flipping my LN and MSRP increase of the BLNR over the course of 2 years from my AD.

If you have an itch for the BLNR, don’t settle for the LN, you will scratch that itch eventually and lose time and money in the process.

Also, the BLNR is perfect for a 1 watch collection, but even better so when your collection grows over the years.
