I own both. Get the Explorer, hands down. I love the TOG for many reasons but the bezel is a dud. The bezel on the TOG doesn’t ratchet which is a pain. Also, you can clearly see in you own picture how the paint on the bezel discolors. The Explorer II is one of the best watches Rolex has made, albeit not the most popular.

I really like the smoothness of the TOG bezel without the ratcheting efffect, and I think its quite suitable since the watch is really meant for things like timing your steak vs timing your dive.

Bought the white TOG when it was released 2007ish (previous comments re bezel were also an issue for me) I swapped it for a Polar 16570 within a month, because I felt it wore too 'small' compared to my same size Explorer 14270 - best 'flip' I've done.

Explorer, it will be more useful if you decide to climb Everest.

I had a similar thread going recently trying to decide between these same refs, so I feel your pain!
Initially I was leaning toward the 16570 since it's a bit more understated and sporty, but every time I got close to pulling the trigger my mind would always wander back to the 116264. No matter how hard I tried I couldn't get over how unique it was in the Rolex line and how it just popped in all the best ways. I ended up going with a black dial TOG 116264 and couldn't be happier. Listen to your gut and buy whichever one puts a smile on your face! |

TOG...conversation piece. Lots of history. and not to many people have them. so it is a rarity that you see it in the wild. TOG...my friend. TOG.

I really like that Turnograph, but why not split the difference and get a white dial 16570?

I never got into the Turn O Graph, I have a regular 16233 DJ. As for the 16570 Explorer II, I have the Polar, it is a great watch in every way, I would go for that hands down.
